Where CO₂ / N₂ cartridges are used as a propellant

Portable Powder Fire Extinguishers
Small portable extinguishers or kitchen kit — the cartridge compresses the powder and ejects it. Mostly CO₂, occasionally N₂.
Cartridge-Operated Fire Extinguishers
Industrial or special extinguishers, where the pressure cartridge is removable and activated during use. Used in mobile/portable solutions.
Fire Suppression Systems for Engine Compartments and Battery Packs (Automotive, EV, Marine)
Small cartridges trigger the discharge of the extinguishing agent into the engine compartment, batteries, or exhaust areas. These are often part of "on-board" protection systems in racing cars, boats, and vehicles.
Small Automatic Systems for Cabinets / Server Racks / Laboratories
Cartridge modules that release a clean extinguishing agent (aerosols, clean gases, powders) upon heat or smoke detection. Cartridges serve as the propellant.
Mobile Aerosol Generators / Capsules for Localized Fire Suppression
Small devices where the cartridge generates an extinguishing aerosol using pressurized gas.
Backup and Emergency Systems for Small Spaces
For example, engines, air-conditioning ducts, small compartments — where it is not practical to install large cylinders.
Some Industrial Applications – Activation of Clean Agents
Cartridges (often N₂) are used for rapid pressure replenishment in smaller systems, which then disperse agents such as Novec, FM-200, or other clean extinguishing agents.
